Monday Advice: Tune in to TWiB!

I’ve been a fan of TWiB since late 2011, when I started listening to the base show, Blacking It Up, which is now known as TWiB Radio, or TWiB Prime.  Somehow, the owner and master of all things TWiB, Elon James White, has managed to keep bringing the people more awesome.

The other shows broadcasted from the TWiB Net, are:

  • TWiB! in the Morning (#amTWiB) – A lively morning news broadcast via the site (as a lot of the other shows are), that can be listened to later on Stitcher and/or iTunes (this applies to all the other TWiB-related programs as well).
  • We Nerd Hard – The title is self explanatory.  All nerds should subscribe immediately!
  • Afterblack (#Afterblack) – Ratchet, controversial, and hilarity, all wrapped up into one program.  Please don’t listen to this show if you aren’t able to handle an impromptu discussion on bestiality, or visualize some old nasty bastard taking a dump in a public space.
  • This Tastes Funny (#TTFunny) – Hosted by Elon and his adorable wife, Emily.  Food is their side chick, and they share this edible love on this particular show, by reviewing restaurants, and having guests that are a part of the food industry, pop in and chat with them.
  • Sportsball – A sports show hosted by Aaron Rand Freeman, who is sometimes a doctor.
  • On Blackness – In depth conversations about Black issues by intellectual figures within the black community.
  • TWiB After Dark – Real sex talk with Feminista Jones.

Don’t let the moniker of the TWiB-sphere fool you.  It is a mostly Black ensemble, but the issues and topics they discuss are universal, though mostly based on what’s happening in America.  Each program has something unique to offer, so you can’t go wrong, if you free your mind!

I only listen to TWiB Prime, amTWiB, Afterblack, and This Tastes Funny–I only need so much of Elon and the gang in my ear, though I love them dearly.  They’ve become a regular part of my life.  It’s a wonder how I’m able to listen to all the aforementioned programs, and still manage to listen to two other podcasts that aren’t TWiB related.  I guess it helps when you’re a single parent with plenty to do around the house!  I usually listen to podcasts while doing mundane chores, and sometimes while I sketch.

Why are you still reading this?  Subscribe and donate to TWiB already!  Oh, and don’t forget to shout out to the chat room if you’re ever lucky enough to call in while any of the shows are live.  And for the love of reasonableness, please don’t subject Elon to a discussion on dolphins! :-D

MidWeek Jam: Lullabies

I got hip to Yuna months ago after setting up my Coldplay Radio on iHeartRadio.  One of her songs played, and I had to find out more about her and her music.  I bought her latest album, and “Lullabies” is the first track on it.  I was immediately taken away by her lyrics and voice. I’d love to see her perform live, but until then, there’s always YouTube!
