The connection ceased at the split of the cord,

and faux saccharine exchanged in place of true words.

As I look up to you,

you look down on me.

Two females existing,

but not coexisting.

One of a certain age seeking perfection,

the other her flawed spawn of pink.

The idling of respect and affirmation,

Halts the desire for maternal celebration.
